Patrick Gates: Cooperation only lasts as long as the status quo is unchanged. As soon as this guy gets to wherever this thing ends… he won’t need you anymore, or… or any of us.
Ben Gates: So we find a way to make sure the status quo changes in our favor.
Change the Status Quo to your favor. And so I did.
The Industry that I heart, the Industry that borned me into retail will have to wait. Will have to be put on pause. I could always come back to it. Heck, I could come back to work on the other side of the table.
One thing is clear, that for the few times in my life, I am completely taking a big leap for someone who is not myself. This move to Vancouver is first and foremost for the two little girls who will grow up closest to their cousins, exactly the way that I had the chance to grow up. They will have a network of family that will stand by them through thick and thin, and support them through anything.
The Status Quo has now changed in their favor.
